Hawaii just became the first state to require all visitors to prove they have been vaccinated against the flu. If you show up on the islands with proof of vaccination, you will not be required to show any other sort of proof to enter the state, like a passport or health certificate.
Starting in 2019, U.S. citizens who are visiting Hawaii need only provide evidence of their vaccination status to be allowed entry into the state, compared to the current requirement of a signed “Hepatitis A Travel Permit” that must be presented at the time of arrival in the U.S.
Today is the 8th. In July, Hawaii announced a relaxation of certain entry requirements that exempts fully vaccinated travelers from the U.S. and its territories from quarantine and screening, provided they upload their COVID-19 vaccination card to the Hawaii Safe Travels website or app. This new measure is an important step toward easing the state’s requirements. According to the Hawaii Tribune Herald, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated persons must remain in quarantine for at least 10 days after arrival or be tested within 72 hours of arrival.

Vaccination documents such as the CDC Immunization Card, Vaccination Management System Certificate, or Department of Defense DD Form 2766C are acceptable forms that can be uploaded to the app or to the Hawaii Safe Travels website. In addition, travellers should ensure that they carry their vaccination cards or photographs.
Current trend
Anyone 12 years of age or older is eligible for this new change in requirements. Infants who cannot yet be vaccinated must have a negative test 72 hours before arrival, unless they are under 5 years old, in which case all entry conditions do not apply.
To be considered fully vaccinated, the last vaccine must have been administered 15 days ago. In the United States, the vaccines are available from Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.
If you have been vaccinated in the United States, you can now avoid quarantine without being screened in advance, Sherilyn Kajiwara, Hawaii’s special project manager for travel safety, said at a news conference. So this will really be a breakthrough, because I know people find it hard to find places where they can get tested (and) wait for the results. So that’s all eliminated.
This recent relaxation of licensing requirements is not new. Last June, Governor David Ige promised that the state would not screen fully vaccinated travelers if Hawaii’s population had been vaccinated before the 8th Amendment. For the month of July, 60% were vaccinated.
According to the Hawaii Department of Health’s COVID-19 site, which was published on 5… Update July, 58% of the state’s population is fully vaccinated; apparently enough to relax the state’s immigration laws.
Nearly 630,000 travelers came to the state in May and spent $1.1 billion, according to the Hawaii Tourism Authority. These numbers are expected to rise further with the relaxation of entry restrictions.
