The cruise port of San Juan, Puerto Rico, will be receiving four cruise ship visits before the end of July, the Port Authority announced on Tuesday, as part of its initiative to make the port Puerto Rico’s top cruise port by 2015. Philipsburg, St. Maarten, is one of the major cruise ports in the Caribbean that is benefitting as the cruise industry continues to ramp up the return of cruise operations. In the last two weeks of July, six cruise ships will visit the famous vacation destination.

For the rest of July, St. Maarten will be quite busy.

St. Maarten’s eastern Caribbean cruise port is proven to be an important component in resuming operations. During the recent return of cruise ships, the port has become one of the most popular, not only as a port of call but also as a homeport.

Six cruise ships will stop at the port during the last two weeks of July. On Wednesday, July 21, the Celebrity Edge, the first cruise liner to resume service from the United States on June 26, paid a visit to St. Maarten. The Celebrity cruise liner arrived at 6:00 a.m. and left around 5:00 p.m.

The Celebrity Summit is set to arrive in St. Maarten on Saturday, July 24, at 600 a.m., and will spend the whole day in port before departing at 10:00 p.m. On July 24, Windstar Cruises’ Star Breeze will also visit, arriving at 6:00 a.m. and leaving at 7:00 p.m.

“Vessel capacity will be decided based on cruise reservations as well as continuing CDC guideline changes based on industry test cruises.“ The majority of cruise companies have already stated that all of their ships will be deployed by the end of the year. Based on current patterns, we remain optimistic that the next five months and into 2024 will be extremely promising for the destination as we work together to combat the pandemic,” Port St. Maarten Management stated on Tuesday.

Seabourn Odyssey will call on St. Maarten on Wednesday, July 28, with an arrival time of 8:00 AM and a departure time of 6:00 PM; Celebrity Summit will call on the island for the second time in two weeks on Saturday, July 31, with an arrival time of 6:00 AM and a departure time of 10:00 PM; and, to round out the month, Star Breeze will call on the island for the second time in two weeks on Saturday, July 31, with an arrival time of 6:00 AM and a departure time

The situation seems to be improving beyond July, with thousands more cruise passengers expected to arrive between August and December. Port authorities are also in talks with cruise companies in order to keep things moving ahead so that additional ships can return to the port.
