What’s Hot Right Now

Riviera Nayarit Consolidates Air Connectivity With New Routes

The Riviera Nayarit is a popular tourist destination.

Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit, according to Marc Murphy, general director of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), are obviously on the mend. According to GAP statistics, they are six percentage points short of their 2019 projections.

“According to growth and recovery statistics, the Riviera Nayarit remains one of the most popular tourist destinations for both local and foreign visitors. Despite the worldwide crisis, the area is seeing a rise in demand, as shown by increasing air passenger arrivals and the sheer quantity of visitors. We can’t, of course, rest on our laurels. Looking forward, the second quarter of the year is virtually likely to confront us with some tough difficulties. Despite this, our location is one-of-a-kind, robust, and adored by visitors from all over the globe. We must be positive and confident in our ability to overcome them,” he added.

More Frequencies and Routes

Spirit Airlines, which began service on July 1, will provide flights to three US cities: Los Angeles on a daily basis, Dallas and Houston on three weekly frequencies on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, for a total of 13 flights each week. More than 2,300 seats per week are available on these flights.

Meanwhile, WestJet, the area’s sole Canadian airline, continues to fly to the region once a week from Calgary.

In terms of local carriers, Viva Aerobus increased the number of flights on its Monterrey route to 31, up from 21 last month. It will operate on 63 frequencies in all, nine more than in June. Volaris will operate 38 flights, which is two more than last month, while TAR will operate 30 flights, which is five more than in June.

Finally, beginning July 12, Aeromar will provide more than 500 additional weekly seats connecting this area to Monterrey through Aguascalientes and San Luis Potos.

There are presently eight US airlines, one Canadian airline, and seven local carriers operating to this area of the Mexican Pacific, with connections to 19 foreign and nine domestic destinations.
