Hurtigruten Lines, the oldest and largest cruise company in Norway, is gearing up for a new expedition cruise season in 2024-23. The company has announced that it will offer six new cruises starting from May 2024. The cruises will go to the Indian Ocean, East Africa, the East Africa region and the Baltic region.

Hurtigruten, the world’s largest passenger shipping line, has announced it will pilot a new expedition cruise service to Antarctica during the summer of 2024. The Hurtigruten’s new expedition cruise will target Antarctica, Antarctica and the South Pacific, and the South Atlantic Ocean in summer 2024, and these cruises will start from Oslo, Norway, in the summer of 2024.

The world’s largest cruise operator, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, will again offer cruise excursions to Africa for the 2024-23 sailing season. The cruises, which will be offered on a Heritage-class ship, will leave from Hamburg, Germany, on November 20, 2024. Then, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises will offer seven-day cruises through January 1, 2024. The itineraries will include ports in Cape Town, South Africa; Maputo, Mozambique; Cape Luv, Namibia; and Port Elizabeth, South Africa, as well as ports in Mozambique and Namibia.

Hurtigruten Excursions, Hurtigruten’s expeditions enterprise, has added the west coast of Africa to its cruise season 2024-2023.

The additional route was added to the cruise line’s schedule in response to passenger demand for more warm-water locations. Cape Verde, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, and Senegal would be included in the 13-night itinerary. The cruises will depart from Dakar, Senegal, one of Africa’s busiest cities, aboard the 335-passenger MS Spitsbergen.

Hurtigruten recently announced year-round adventure cruises to the Galapagos Islands starting in early 2024, which will be followed by the inclusion of this western Africa route. For the seasons 2024-2023, the firm will also launch a series of trips to the Canary Islands and Madeira.

“For Hurtigruten Expeditions, 2024 will be one of the most exciting years ever. In January, we will begin operations in the Galapagos Islands, and by the end of the year, we will offer our first African trips. Hurtigruten Expeditions CEO Asta Lassesen stated, “We are extremely pleased about expanding to new interesting locations, which complements our Caribbean and South American adventure cruises and enhances our worldwide presence.”

Hurtigruten Announces New Africa Expedition Cruises For 2024-23

The first in a series of expedition cruises to Cape Verde and the Bissagos Islands, Hurtigruten’s first-ever African voyage will leave on November 27, 2024. The sailings will take place over four days in the 88-island archipelago, which is home to hippos, dolphins, crocodiles, sea turtles, manatees, and 500 different kinds of birds.

The 10 rocky volcanic islands that make up Cape Verde’s nation will provide a variety of landscapes. Visitors will love visiting colonial churches, palaces, and ancient forts across the archipelago, which has a unique mix of African and Portuguese influences. Many migratory and indigenous species traverse the islands, making them a birdwatcher’s delight.

A day in Banjul, the capital of The Gambia, the smallest nation on continental Africa, is also included in the itinerary.

In addition, all voyages departing from the ship’s homeport of Dakar will feature land-based activities. Before departing, passengers will visit the island of Gorée, where they will see beautiful colonial homes, baobabs, and palm trees, as well as learn about the island’s tragic past. A city tour of Dakar will be provided on the day of disembarkation.

Hurtigruten Expeditions will embark on additional African voyages on November 27, December 9, and December 21, 2024, as well as January 2 and 14, 2024.

In November 2024 and January through March 2024, the cruise line will operate five 10-night sailings to the Canary Islands and Madeira.
