Michelin is the world’s leading restaurant guide with a selection of more than 3,000 restaurants in its Guide. These are some of the most exclusive dining experiences in the world, and Capital One has partnered with Michelin to offer these dinners at select locations across the country.
The what does michelin star mean is a question that has been asked many times. Michelin stars are awarded to restaurants based on the quality of their food and service.
Capital One Special Michelin Chef Meet-and-Greet Tasting Dinners are well worth the trip.

Wow. For those that take advantage of it, this is a fantastic chance. It’s not cheap, but I believe the price is fair for what you’re going to receive. A Summer Dining Series with the Michelin Guide is being offered by Capital One at Michelin-starred restaurants in San Francisco, Brooklyn, and Northern Virginia.
A tasting meal with beverage pairings, a meet and greet with the chef, and a “special gift” are all included in the $500 ticket price. This isn’t an easily replicated opportunity, therefore the hefty price tag is reasonable, in my opinion. Tickets may be purchased here.
- Saturday, August 21 at 1:30 p.m. at Quince at the Farm in Bolinas, California (near San Francisco).
- 3 Michelin Star restaurant with its own exclusive farm relationship will offer a cocktail & Champagne welcome, tour of the farm hosted by the farmer and Chef Michael Tusk, followed by a meal in dining tents made with ingredients from the farm.
- Tuesday, August 24 at 6:00 p.m. at The Inn at Little Washington in Washington, Virginia (just over an hour from DC).
- Restaurant has three Michelin stars and its own farmers, gardeners, and beekeeper. Chef-owner Patrick O’Connell will lead a tour of the farm, which will feature a champagne toast, followed by a dinner and wine pairings.
- Aska in Brooklyn, New York — Friday, August 27 & Saturday, August 28 at 6:00 p.m.
- 2 Michelin Star restaurant with its own composting facilities and herbs from its upstate garden (this does not, in my view, make the food taste better but maybe you feel better about the waste). Following a cocktail hour and a toast from Chef Fredrik Berselius, a dinner of fresh Scandinavian cuisine is served.
The price includes service and tax, making it a bit easier to swallow. The appropriate readers will view this as a once-in-a-lifetime chance.
I’ve visited the Inn at Little Washington on many occasions, but not lately. My last dinner there was soon after the chef and his long-time front-of-house partner broke up, and service had certainly down a notch from its previous high heights.
On my first visit, I recall not needing to identify ourselves by name when entering the restaurant and being handed my menu (each guest’s menu had their name on it) when we left. We were handed the menus by someone we hadn’t met earlier in the evening, and we were curious as to how they knew it was us so they could give us the correct menus.
There are some meals for which I would travel, and I have done so, whether it’s to El Bulli while it was still operating or to Tokyo for sushi. Doing so, in my opinion, is an undervalued experience.
