Florida is about to get an epic new attraction in the form of Miami’s new cruise port. The port will bring more than 200 new jobs to the area, and it is expected that more than 100 ships will call daily, according to the Miami Herald. This is a major win for a city that has suffered from anemic job growth in recent years.
Crystal Cruises is adding a new stop on its future itineraries – and it’s coming to Miami. The cruise line announced today that the upcoming Inspiration and Serenade will be calling Port Everglades home while visiting Port Canaveral in 2016 and 2017 as well, before returning to Miami for 2018’s Spirit of the Seas and 2019’s Crystal Symphony.
Carnival Cruises is saying goodbye to New York City as its only North American port of call. In February, the line will open a Miami facility as its first U.S. call, and it’s aiming to add a second by 2016. Carnival’s current full-day and five-day cruises that originate in New York will end in December. Crystal Serenity’s Bahamas cruises have been extended until early November, and now include Miami as an embarkation port.
The addition of Miami starts on August 7 with a trip from Nassau, with the first embarkation on August 9 from PortMiami. Travelers will be able to embark from a US port rather than the Bahamian ports of Nassau and Bimini. Embarkation will take place on Saturdays in Nassau, Sundays in Bimini, and Mondays in Miami.

In addition, a new four-night Bahamas cruise will depart Miami on Nov. 15 for a round-trip. With one day at sea, it will reach San Salvador and Exuma. Reservations for the Miami-themed cruises began on July 28.

Crystal visitors aged 12 and above must be completely vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccination at least 14 days before to boarding as part of its Crystal Clean+ procedures.
