The first luxury cruise ship built in the UK in nearly 20 years is set to depart her shipyard for a four-year journey in the Arctic. And as it becomes the first vessel to call on the ports of Reykjavík and Akureyri she will mark a new chapter in the history of British shipping.

A new ship has sailed into the harbor of the port of Stavanger, Norway. The  MS Eurodam, an expedition cruise ship, is the second vessel in a series of ships called the Expedition Cruiseship . Construction of the ship started in 2013 in the shipyard of Fjellstrand, which is located in the city of Stavanger. The ship is 168 meters long, 23 meters wide and 21 meters high. The ship is operated by Travelport, which is a subsidiary of the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL). The Eurodam’s first destination is the port of Stavanger in Norway, where it will remain in port until the summer of 2016.

Crystal Cruises’ Crystal Endeavor officially left the MV Werften shipyard in Germany on Saturday and is setting sail for Iceland where she will begin her first cruise season.

This vessel is the first Polar Class 6 expedition yacht designed to operate in the cold and icy waters of the Arctic and Antarctic.

A party was held on the quay of the shipyard for the staff and their families, who said goodbye to the new ship and wished her well. The launch of the Endeavor is scheduled for July 15 in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. After an overnight stay in Reykjavik on the first night of the maiden voyage, the ship departs on the 18th. July in Reykjavik.

The ship will make a series of five 10-night voyages around Iceland this summer.

The Crystal Endeavor was launched on the 26th. June baptized. The patron was Manuela Schwesig, Prime Minister of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The Endeavor, Crystal’s ninth ship, is one of the fastest and most powerful expedition ships in the industry. The ship, with a gross tonnage of just over 20,000 tons, accommodates 200 passengers in balcony suites with butler service. The ship will also offer a one-on-one relationship between staff and guests.

The ship features the Japanese restaurant Umi Uma, the Italian restaurant Prego, the only casino on the expedition yacht, a glass solarium with pool and jacuzzi, a spa and fitness center, and a promenade deck.

Equipment specific to the expeditions includes mud rooms, a fleet of Zodiac boats, kayaks, snorkeling equipment, a six-person dive boat, and two helicopters in some areas of the world.

The Crystal Endeavor’s maiden flight will take place from 17 to 27. July takes place. A series of five tours of Iceland this summer will be organized from Reykjavik, which is a six-hour drive from New York and three hours from London.

After a series of luxurious expedition cruises to Iceland, the ship embarks on a 10-night voyage to meet the Vikings: Cruise in Iceland and Norway from Reykjavik to Tromsø on the 5th. September.

Autumn trips include the 13-night Norwegian Fjords & Scottish Islands Explore itinerary from Tromsø to London and the 11-night Breton, Bordeaux and Beyond itinerary from London to Lisbon.
