NCL Holdings, the parent company of Norwegian Cruise Line® (NCL®), has just announced that they have resumed their previously scheduled calls from the US West Coast for 2018. These calls have been regularly scheduled in previous years, but NCL has suspended these calls due to Labor Day for all of 2018. This year, however, NCL has re-established calls from the US West Coast on September 10, and September 17, 2018.. Read more about norwegian cruise line and let us know what you think.
Norwegian Cruise Line reaffirmed its commitment to sailing with 100% of its passengers and staff fully vaccinated prior to resuming US cruising out of Seattle.
The “Great Cruise Comeback” panel, which included cruise and government officials, as well as Dr. Scott Gottlieb, chairman of NCL’s SailSAFE Global Health and Wellness Council and former commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration, marked Norwegian Encore’s debut on seven-night Alaska itineraries roundtrip from the city.

Unsurprisingly, the panel focused on COVID-19-related health and safety concerns.

“That is the issue of the hour, and I believe having Dr. Scott Gottlieb [here] is indicative of how seriously we take health and safety,” Frank Del Rio, President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, said when asked how NCL is comforting its passengers.
“It’s not a catchphrase for us. He said, “We mean what we say, and we speak what we mean.” We said in mid-March that we would not begin cruise operations until everyone on board our boats had been fully vaccinated.”
“It all boils down to doing the right thing. You’re aware of our battle with the state of Florida,” he said, referring to Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ preliminary injunction filed on July 13 seeking to overturn the state’s statute banning companies from demanding proof of vaccination status.
What’s Hot Right Now
“It gives you the impression that we are serious about it,” he added. “Nothing, even politics, will stand in the way of our safeguarding our passengers, crew, and the communities we visit.
Gottlieb echoed Del Rio’s remarks, saying that it was obvious from the start that Del Rio was focused on “setting the safest possible standards for consumers.”
He replied, “That’s been born out in the process.” “I can’t tell you how many times Frank has told me, ‘It’s the proper thing to do.’”
The beneficial economic effect cruise lines have on the locations they visit was also addressed by the panelists.
“To put it simply, I believe you all understand that the cruise sector is a global economic accelerator,” said Tom Norwalk, president and CEO of Visit Seattle. “In a typical year, it attracts over 1.2 million passengers to our area, generating an estimated $900 million in economic effect not only in the city center but across our region.”
“I am extremely thankful for the dedication and cooperation of our passengers, team members, crew, and partners across the globe who have enabled us to reach this historic milestone,” said NCL President and Chief Operating Officer Harry Sommer.
Norwegian Encore will stop at Icy Strait Point, Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan on its roundtrip from Seattle.
Stephen Metruck, executive director of the Port of Seattle; Andrea DeMarco, senior vice president of ESG, investor relations, and corporate communications; and Steve Moeller, senior vice president-commercial development at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, were among the other panelists.
