Before each cruise ship resumes operations with passengers on board, all crew members are fully vaccinated. Royal Caribbean also ensures that strict protocols are applied, with different specifics depending on where the ship departs. To date, five vessels have resumed operations and many more are in the works.
Anthem of the Seas From Southampton
Since the reopening of the cruise industry in the UK in May, many cruise ships have moved to take advantage of it, including Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas. This ship is the first in the fleet to sail in Europe and the first to sail from Cyprus for a cruise line. The Jewel of the Seas has a gross tonnage of 90,090 and can accommodate 2,191 guests. However, it is unlikely that the ship will operate at full capacity.
Miami Freedom of the Seas
The situation in the United States remained difficult last year, but Royal Caribbean eventually resumed sailing Freedom of the Seas from the United States after working with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

The ship departed on June 20 for a simulated sea voyage to perform stress test protocols with 600 volunteer passengers on board. The Freedom of the Seas received an order on the 29th. Adventure of the Seas was the first ship in the fleet to cruise again in North America and the first to dock in Nassau, Bahamas. The ship broke ground on June 12. for a seven-night cruise that included a return to the popular cruise port of Cozumel in Mexico, Freeport in Grand Bahama and Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day in CocoCay, Bahamas.

This was a big step forward for the cruise line, especially for the first time from Nassau. The Adventure of the Seas welcomed more than 1,000 passengers on her maiden voyage, and 94 percent of guests 16 and older were fully vaccinated. All crew members were also fully vaccinated.
Singapore Quantum of the Seas
For the past few weeks, all eyes have been on the Bahamas and the re-launch of the American cruise line, and it’s easy to forget that Quantum of the Seas has been sailing out of Singapore for months!
The first ship of the Quantum class, like the rest of the fleet, was initially scheduled to be decommissioned in March 2024. However, in December 2024, the Singapore government authorized the cruise line to resume operations with cruises to nowhere. In July 2024, the season was extended a third time until February 2024.

Quantum of the Seas conducts three- and four-night sea voyages with strict medical protocols reserved for Singapore residents. Royal Caribbean works closely with the authorities.
